Sarcomas are uncommon cancers; they could arise almost anywhere in the body from connective tissues such as fat, muscle, blood vessels, deep skin tissues, nerves, bones, or cartilage. Sarcomas in different body locations have different treatment plans that will depend on many factors including the grade of the sarcoma. We have special expertise in retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcoma. Surgery with clear margins is the primary treatment for sarcomas and depending on the stage of the cancer, chemotherapy and radiation therapy may be recommended.

At Surgical Associates, we have a multidisciplinary approach to sarcoma treatment. We work closely with our radiation and medical oncology colleagues and discuss individual cases to come out with the best and most effective treatment plan for our patients. Our Cancer Center is a winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer, a program of the American College of Surgeons.
